Why choosing like-minded suppliers matters for greener interiors
By Helen Bailey | Sept 16th, 2026
We recently received an email from one of our suppliers, Fluid Branding, who provides the branded cups we use for one of our clients. It was a good reminder that behind every great company, there's often a simple but brilliant idea. In Fluid Branding's case, that idea is straightforward: for every order placed, a tree is planted.
It got us thinking about our own client relationships and the suppliers we work with.
It's necessary for all successful business to look inward at how they can operate more sustainably, but at the same time, no company can ever operate in isolation. It's necessary to look closely at the businesses we choose to work alongside.
Your suppliers are an extension of your business. Work with companies that share your values and approach to doing business responsibly, and those relationships become part of your own sustainability journey.
Sustainability doesn't stop at your own four walls
When we talk about creating a greener workplace, the conversation naturally focuses on the big decisions: the materials used in a fit-out, energy efficiency, lighting, heating, waste, and how a space is designed to perform well over the long term.
These things matter. But sustainability doesn't stop once the materials are chosen, or the fit-out is complete.
Look further along the supply chain, and other decisions are being made every day: who supplies your branded stationery, where your furniture comes from, how it's packaged and transported, what happens to products at the end of their useful life. Individually, these decisions might seem small. Collectively, they add up.
A simple idea from one of our suppliers
Fluid Branding has partnered with Ecologi for the past five years, planting a tree for every order through its #ATreeWithEveryOrder initiative. This is done through Eden Reforestation Projects, which works with local communities to create environmental and social benefits.
It was a reminder that sustainability doesn't always need a huge transformation or a complicated initiative — sometimes it starts with a simple decision to do things differently. And when businesses choose suppliers thinking the same way, those small decisions become part of a much bigger picture.
Choosing suppliers that share your values
For businesses planning a new office or commercial interior, choosing the right fit-out partner is only one part of the process. The wider network of suppliers and contractors involved matters too.
We believe in building relationships with businesses that take their own responsibilities seriously, looking at the products they supply, the materials they use, how they manage waste, and the steps they're taking to reduce their environmental impact. Not every supplier needs the same approach, and no single initiative makes a business sustainable on its own. What matters is asking the questions and making informed choices.
Practicing what we preach
It's a standard we hold ourselves to as well. For example, Prestige Interiors holds an Environment Agency certificate of registration, which proves that we're formally registered to transport and handle waste responsibly, in line with our legal duty of care. It's a public, checkable credential rather than just a claim on our website, and it means our clients can be confident that waste from their fit-out is handled by an accountable, regulated business, not passed on to whoever happens to be cheapest or closest to hand.
Building a more responsible supply chain
Good relationships are built on shared values, trust and a common understanding of what matters. When those values extend beyond your own organisation, they influence the choices made throughout a project and not just the finished space, but the people, products and businesses that help bring it to life.
The most sustainable approach is rarely one big decision. It's making better decisions at every stage, wherever you can, and sometimes starting with something as simple as a tree being planted.
At Prestige Interiors, greener interiors are about more than what happens within our own walls. They're about the relationships, choices, and supply chains that sit behind them.
